November update

We finally did it!!!! The ladies of WIT got together in October for a reunion. Special thanks goes out to Keith and Joyce for hosting us! Those of you who were unable to meet with us were missed, but do not fear plans are in the works to meet up New Years Day with the families.

Gone but not forgotten. October 19th marked 8 years since we lost our precious WIT wife Gail.

Several WIT wives were in attendance at Woodland Ave Baptist Church on November 10th to support Pastor Marc and Rev. Clyde Lacewell (who spoke that morning).

Please continue to pray for WIT wife Cynt as she moves back home to Mississippi to live.

WOW! Its been too long!

Its been a while since this site was updated. Actually its been a long time since WIT Wives have gotten together. The last time was over a year ago when many of us traveled to Richmond to celebrate the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Jason Harrell. Son of one of our WIT Wives Lula. It was like a WIT Reunion and Wedding all wrapped up into one! By now many of you have received a request from Teresa asking if any of us are interested in reviving our fellowship. Please give Teresa a call, or if you are in contact with some of our ladies please pass this info on to them. In an effort to contribute to this I have made some changes to our blog, and would love to keep everyone updated here on how our WIT Wives and their families are doing. Many have moved to different areas, some have had children graduate and go off to college, some have new grand babies and many more are preparing for new stages in life. So come on ladies, send us some updates and let us know what is happening in your life, if you have any prayer request, or if you just want to say hello.

WIT Reconnection

I don't think its by happenstance that I posted an update to this blog for the first time yesterday in nearly two years, or the fact that I have talked to several WIT sisters in the last week. So of course when I got the email from Teresa (see excerpt below) I knew there was a reason for all of this. I have contacted Teresa to let her know that I would be willing to host the first get together at WABC (I just happen to have an in with a pretty special pastor friend :) ). Dates and times have not been set, but all you have to do is show up (with a favorite dish of course, since no Women's Get Together would be complete without food...LOL). As soon as the details have been sorted out I will post info to this site. Looking forward to seeing all of you and meeting some new sisters.
Wouldn’t it be great if the women just got together once a month and prayed for each other, our families, studied the word, played some games, shared our issues and life stories, planned an outing, went out to lunch or everyone bring a dish and we just get together and talk. WOW!! What an idea, what a concept, how original…… women coming together for fun, food and fellowship and to pray for each other and to talk about what God is doing right now in the world, to study the word of God and how we can apply it in our everyday lives, to be a support system along with our church families and blood families and community families and extended families… I don’t know ya’ll this might be to RADICAL an idea… to catch on!!! Maybe we should ask some of the former members of Girls Night Out, Women In Touch, Sister’s In the Spirit, Women Empowered… is there a need? Whatever you want to call US, there is a need for women to come together and touch each others lives, pray for each others issues and situations and just connect.

Okay God you don’t have to hit me with 2 bricks… 1 is enough!!! So ladies I need some feedback soon, ASAP, Today, NOW!!!
LET’S PLAN IT LADIES!!!!! JJJJJ
IF YOU SEE ANYONE’S NAME NOT ON THIS EMAIL CALL THEM, WRITE THEM, FAX THEM AND LET’S GET THIS EVENT ORGANIZED AND PLANNED…I MISS US TOO!!!! Somebody get in touch with Ruthie or give me her contact information.

I’ll be in touch with not only ya’ll, but some of these other women who obviously want to be In Touch with other women.

LUV’YA….BUT GOD LOVES YOU MORE
God’s Word! God’s Will! God’s Way…Let us Pray
Teresa

Walk for A Cure

Women In Touch participation in the Making Strides Against Cancer Walk was a success. Teresa and Cyndi ( along with their daughters ) covered 3 miles of Town Point Park in heavy rain and a stream of walkers from all over the tidewater area. Thanks to support from family and friends and some of the women from Women In Touch they exceeded their goal of $200. Thanks to everyone for their love and support. We were very proud to walk in the name of our friend, and sister Gail.

For Our Gail

For Our Gail

If ever there was a Christian woman
Who wholeheartedly loved the Lord
It was our wonderful friend, Gail
Never wavering even when times were hard.
Gail was a woman of integrity,
She was honest, loving and a woman of her word.
She listened to you when you shared with her
And listening, your heart she heard.

Her mission was to seek God for his purpose,
Her life goal was to follow his plan,
And let her life be a witness to knowing God
And lead others to the Promise Land

God wanted to use Gail
And she wanted to be used by Him
She wanted to be a living testimony
And share the reason for her joy with them.

Her praising God
Was not to be stopped by anything
Not cancer, not circumstances
And not pain.

She knew that no matter what happened to her body
On this earthly plane,
In Heaven with her Savior
She would be whole and live again.

We are sad only for ourselves and because we miss her,
For we can not reach out to hug and kiss her,
But we can not help but rejoice when we realize with a sigh
How she must be rejoicing and singing her Hallelujahs in the sky!

Sing out, sweet friend! Sing out to angels bending near
Sing out so sweetly that those of us on earth can hear
For it will a sweet song that we all shall someday sing together
Praising God with you again forever and ever and ever.

Author.......Thena Smith

Many of you know how much I love scrapbooking, what you may not know is how big a network scrapbooking is on-line. Last year when Gail died I asked a scrapbook friend to write a poem about her. No she did not know Gail personally but she read the blog entry on Gail and from that “For Our Gail” was birthed. Thena Smith is a published writer and I am still amazed that she took time out to write a poem for me in honor of my friend. I can’t believe its been a year since she left us. Sunday a few of us got together with Rev, Rev and in her name we sang at a music program at Messiah Presbyterian. Greta remarked at how much fun it felt to get together and sing some of the songs that Gail (can you believe now I can actually say that? All of the time I knew her she was Mrs. Davis to me but now I know that she was my Gail also) taught and even wrote for us. My daughter Marquisha who grew up learning and loving under Gail told me later that she knew Mrs. Davis was there with us Sunday. I felt it also and I know the others who “sang” felt her presence also. Last year we promised to stick together because that is what Gail would have wanted…She loved the women of Women In Touch…we know that because she said it over and over again. So today I am reaching out to my “wives” and I am challenging you to do the same. Call or email at least three WIT wives (and not just the ones you talk to on a regular basis). And while you are at it stop and have a little conversation with Gail and her God…you know “She is Watching You”.

Cyndi (the not soo quiet one anymore).

Oh, by the way you can read about Thena and find books written by Thena here: http://thenaspoems.com/books.htm

October Updates and Information

Sorry this is a little late ( its been a rough week ). These are the following updates for the month of October.

Teresa Harris ( along with Bonita Harris and Pat Pickett ) will be one of many speakers at a Drama Workshop on October 14th from 9 am to 3 pm at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chesapeake. See me for more details if you are interested in attending.

WIT family and friends will be singing ( in honor of Mrs. Davis ) on Sunday, October 15 @ 4:00 pm at Messiah Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, VA. Rev. Davis said he would like to rehearse on Monday, Oct. 9 @ 6:3 pm. Joyce has agreed to let us have rehearsal in her schoolroom @ 6:3 pm. Even if you can't come with us on Sunday, it would be nice to see and sing with everyone at Joyce's on Monday. If you can't be at rehearsal at 6:3 pm come as soon as you can. I know this time could conflict with some people's work schedule, but we don't want to keep anyone out to late on a school/work night ( Teresa Harris ).

Rev. Clyde Lacewell will be guest minister at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church on October 23rd at 7 pm for their youth revival.

Rev. Ricky Lee will be preaching at Greater St. Andrews for their men's revival on October 12-13 (Thursday & Friday) at 7 pm.

Rev. Pamela Lee will be preaching at Oakwood Chapel Church of Christ in Norfolk, Sunday, October 22 at 11:30 am.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness several companies are offering "Pink Products" for sale and a portion of the purchase will go towards research for Breast Cancer. Here are just a few ( you can easily do a search for more participating companies ):

Brighton

Coach

Target

Bed Bath and Beyond

Kodak

Please show your support to companies and organizations that give back to breast cancer research. God's Blessings,

Cyndi

Pam at Ebenezer Baptist Church

Pam really brought the word to Ebenezer's Womens Day Celebration. "It's in the Water" gave the women there something to think and shout about. Thanks Pam, I know it was much needed food for my spirit this weekend. Until later ladies ..be blessed in the Lord.
